Key Responsibilities at Northern Trust

Working at Northern Trust involves a wide array of responsibilities. As part of the team, one is expected to assist Portfolio Banking Advisors and Banking Relationship Advisors with client portfolios and internal administration of accounts. This includes regular communication with clients, attending client meetings, assisting Relationship Managers with business development plans and client presentations.

The role also entails managing a portfolio of clients, making credit presentations at Group Credit Committee, and coordinating with Account Managers and CSST on deposit related transaction processing. This also involves handling inquiry resolution, obtaining necessary documentation for credit underwriting, monitoring, and credit file maintenance, and executing daily client transaction activity.

At Northern Trust, employees are also expected to oversee the development of appropriate action plans for client servicing and ensure their execution and follow-up. They document services provided, specialized procedures, and maintain ongoing written communications with clients.

Expertise and Experience Required

Northern Trust requires its employees to have a deep knowledge of banking products and services. Credit underwriting experience is also necessary, which can be obtained through working in the National Credit Services Center or at another financial institution. Additionally, employees should possess analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Experience wise, a minimum of 5 years’ experience or equivalent in financial servicing/accounting fields with a client servicing background is required. Formal credit training is a necessity, with at least one year of experience performing credit analysis and underwriting.

Remuneration and Benefits

The salary range at Northern Trust is approximately $114,540 – 194,580 USD. However, the company also provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts, and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also offers a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
