Citi names key Fraser adviser to strategy, investor relations role

Citi Names Margo Pilic as Head of Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Investor Relations

Citi recently announced a significant change in its leadership team, appointing Margo Pilic, the current chief of staff to CEO Jane Fraser, to a new role. Pilic will now serve as the head of strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and investor relations at the bank.

Combining Roles and Transitions

This new role is a combination of two previous positions at Citi. Tim Karpoff, who had been leading the strategy and M&A efforts since 2021, will be leaving the bank at the end of the month. Additionally, Jenn Landis, who served as the head of investor relations, will transition to the role of CFO of the bank’s markets business in early August.

Departure and Future Plans

In a LinkedIn post, Karpoff mentioned that he had informed the bank of his departure earlier in the year. He expressed his intention to focus on a new role related to finance and technology. Meanwhile, Pilic, with over 20 years of experience at Citi, will now report to CFO Gonzalo Luchetti in her new position.

Fraser’s Endorsements

CEO Jane Fraser praised Pilic for her contributions to the firm over the past five years. She highlighted Pilic’s involvement in strategic initiatives, reorganization efforts, and overall transformation of the firm. Fraser also commended Rafael Soeda, who will be stepping into the role of chief of staff, for his extensive experience and leadership skills.

Recognition and Achievements

Landis was credited with rebuilding trust and credibility in investor relations through transparent communication and strategic engagement. She played a significant role in revamping Citi’s earnings processes and disclosures, leading to a surge in the bank’s stock price. The bank acknowledged her efforts in achieving key milestones and setting a positive trajectory for the future.

Future Plans and Search for New Talent

Citi announced that the search for the next CFO for global functions, operations, and technology is underway. The bank will also be seeking candidates for the position of COO of services in the near future. These strategic moves reflect Citi’s commitment to aligning its business strategy with investor expectations.
