Scotiabank: Seeking Director for Investment Banking

Scotiabank, a leading bank in the Americas, is urgently seeking a purpose-driven and result-oriented individual to join their inclusive and high-performing team. The position offered is for the role of a Director in Investment Banking, specifically for the Media & Telecom sector. The role is based in New York City, one of the financial hubs of the world.

Job Description and Salary Range

The position is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week. The offered salary ranges from $300,000 to $300,000 per year. However, please note that this is a guideline only. The final salary offered may vary based on factors such as the successful candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Director will have several key responsibilities, including leading the negotiations and structuring of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) transactions. This will involve overseeing aspects like valuation, deal terms, and integration plans. They will also be responsible for the execution of equity capital markets transactions, including IPOs, follow-on offerings, and private placements. Moreover, the role involves managing the structuring, negotiation, and execution of Debt Capital Markets (DCM) transactions, including debt financing.

In addition to these, the Director will be expected to identify probable sources of new business, including companies, countries, and emerging issues. They will also generate ideas to prepare and present business development pitches with the objective to originate business. The successful candidate should be able to work with a long-term relationship strategy in mind when addressing client requirements.

Furthermore, the Director is expected to coordinate the execution of mandates and manage transaction processes while leading, managing, and developing a team of banking professionals. They will also be required to share client information with team members and promote collaborative and cohesive working relationships with colleagues from other departments / geographies within Scotiabank’s platform.

Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance, Business Administration or a related field and nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation. This should include originating and supporting investment banking advisory mandates with North American clients, managing client relationships and transactions, incorporating knowledge and market intelligence from key decision makers at large financial sponsors and strategic clients in the US and Canada, and utilizing valuation metrics used by clients to discuss recent transactions within the industry.

They must also hold FINRA licenses SIE, 63, & 79. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields and seven (7) years of experience in the above-listed skills.
