The Role and Responsibilities within Northern Trust
At Northern Trust, the associates play a crucial role in managing client portfolios and the internal administration of accounts. They are responsible for maintaining regular communication with clients, attending client meetings, and assisting Relationship Managers with business development plans and client presentations. This includes execution of daily client transaction activity, such as account opening, exception clearing, overdrafts, fees, payments, and borrowing. They also handle inquiry resolution, obtain appropriate documentation necessary for credit underwriting, and ensure system information is up-to-date.
Developing Understanding and Efficiency
One key aspect of the role involves developing a clear understanding of clients’ needs behind service requests and communicating those to service partners. The associates are also responsible for identifying service efficiency enhancements, process improvements, and service delivery using creative and proactive measures. A large part of their job involves regular communication with clients to inform them about account set-up or status, past due loans, document requests, or other information.
Knowledge and Experience Required for the Role
The associate role at Northern Trust requires a sound knowledge of banking products and services, along with credit underwriting experience. This experience can be obtained through working in the National Credit Services Center or at another financial institution. A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in financial servicing/accounting fields with a client servicing background is required for the role.
