An integral part of this team is the Assistant General Counsel – Consumer Bank, Centralized Transaction Operations Legal Attorney. This role plays an essential part in safeguarding the integrity of the firm and its operations.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
As an Assistant General Counsel with CTO, you will serve as a trusted advisor to the operations team. Your primary responsibility will be to support operations units that fulfill third-party court-related subpoenas and asset-based orders. This involves coordinating with civil litigators, federal, state, and local prosecutors, and other regulatory agencies. In addition to handling daily escalations, you will help shape the strategic vision of the operations team. This will involve promoting process improvements and efficiencies while providing legal support to other CTO sublines of business and key strategic initiatives.
Another crucial aspect of the role involves significant cross-functional collaboration with line of business lawyers and their counterparts in JPMC’s corporate functions. This calls for strong analytical, research, and issue-spotting skills. As part of a fast-paced environment, you will need to manage your portfolio of work independently while also working collaboratively with the team.
Requirements of the Role
The role of an Assistant General Counsel – Consumer Bank, Centralized Transaction Operations Legal Attorney, requires a Juris Doctor (JD) degree. You must be admitted to practice in and be a member of the bar in good standing in the state in which you will practice. Apart from this, you must have 5+ years of relevant legal experience in a government, law enforcement, or a regulatory agency, a large consumer banking organization, law firm, or equivalent.
Other essential requirements include a demonstrated record of taking on increasing responsibility, excellent communication skills, analytical skills, and judgment. Additionally, the ability to multitask and effectively manage multiple matters and projects simultaneously is crucial. You must also be able to foster and maintain strong client relationships and see past the question to understand greater impacts or risks.
Preferred Qualifications
While the aforementioned requirements are critical, having both civil and criminal litigation experience with a strong understanding of the rules of civil and criminal procedure is preferred. Knowledge and understanding of banking products and services and the relevant core banking regulations and regulatory framework for a large banking organization such as JPMorgan Chase is also desirable.
