Role and Responsibilities of a Banking Associate

TD Bank is currently seeking a Banking Associate for its Personal & Commercial Banking line of business. This professional plays a key role in delivering TD’s Brand promise at a store location. The Banking Associate is accountable for accurately completing everyday banking transactions and providing advice and educational support on services, products, and tools to help Customers achieve their financial goals.

The role involves a wide range of tasks across multiple areas within a Store location, including processing customer transactions, opening new accounts, and educating customers on all banking products and services. This associate is expected to build trust with customers through educational content & tools, provide consultative support, and advocate with proactive insights & recommendations, utilizing TD’s systems and tools to engage with Customers to acquire and deepen relationships.

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate for the Banking Associate role should have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience working with customers in any capacity. This experience can be demonstrated through any of the following: volunteering, education, military experience. Preferred skills include demonstrated customer service skills, teller experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. A Notary License is also preferred.

Customer and Shareholder Accountabilities

At TD Bank, a Banking Associate is expected to consistently provide legendary customer service while transacting, promoting, educating, and referring TD Products to new and existing customers. They are also expected to understand and support the Bank’s customer service strategy and consider the impact of decisions on the well-being of TD, its customers, and stakeholders.

For shareholders, a Banking Associate ensures compliance when completing operational activities in accordance with company guidelines and regulations such as Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act to minimize risk and protect the customer.

Employee/Team Accountabilities

Beyond individual responsibilities, a Banking Associate at TD Bank is also expected to contribute to a positive work environment by aligning with TD’s Model, Brand, and Culture. This includes acting as a brand champion both internally and externally, collaborating with team members, and actively seeking opportunities to improve the delivery of work with high attention to quality standards.

Physical Requirements and Additional Information

The role of a Banking Associate comes with specific physical requirements such as standing, walking, and occasionally moving safely in confined spaces, lifting/carrying items under and over 25lbs, and the ability to concentrate for long periods of time. Domestic travel may occasionally be required, while international travel is never required. The ability to perform sedentary work, operate standard office equipment, and respond quickly to sounds is also necessary.
